Re: Weathering Wood

Yes, weathering can be a lot of work. But, if done correctly, the effect is truly amazing.

Perhaps the question should be...wear and tear?

Weathering Wood

Model railroaders put a lot of weathering detail into almost everything. I am no exception. But, ships are a different animal. Would any ship in the age of sail, be allowed to get to a point where paint would be cracked and peeling? Would iron work be allowed to rust? If so, where would it be seen o...

Bill, I am left handed. So, as they say of left handed people...we are in our right mind! :D Does that mean I should be a natural!
I have watched janos thread on many occasions. He is truly gifted!

Re: The black pearl 1:41

Well, I have just been commenting on these kits in another thread. This looks to be a very nice one. I really like how you cut the planks to give more relief to the detail. Great looking step.
Great work!

I greatly admire taking something that exists and making it better by kitbashing. Been known to do some of that myself.

You are doing a fine job of it! Very nicely done...more to come later as your progress extends to completion. :)

Re: Sovereign of The Seas 1637 - Heavily modified Mantua kit

Well, I have not been posting in the forum much of late. Too many other things going on. New job at hand. Some family issues. Enough excuses. I had been reading and following your forum, just not commenting. Shame on me. This morning, I decided it was time to end my silence on building threads. You ...

Donnie:
I was reading your build log on this new challenge. While reading, I noticed some mention of a china made version. Is that z.h.l. You are referring to, or is it another?

Thank you Donnie! They say an artist is never satisfied with his own work, even though his/her critics see nothing wrong. Therefore, the artist is ever trying to better themselves and their work. Here are pics of the foot ropes for the bowsprit. I made a somewhat jig out of a piece of foam core boar...

Re: Artesania Latina Virginia 1819 build/bash by: DaveC.

Hey everybody! It's been awhile since my last post. So yesterday and this a.m., I did some more work on this little project. I rebuilt the bowsprit and started doing some of the stays. 3934.JPG 3935.JPG 3936.JPG 3937.JPG 3938.JPG 3939.JPG 3940.JPG 3941.JPG 3942.JPG 3943.JPG Sorry about the poor pic ...
