G'day John
Another brilliant example of this kit! And of course the workmanship helps a lot.
The speed that you are going, the end will not be far away.

Thanks Greg, but I've got a long way to go yet, I've got to do all the same down the port side, then the cabin details, the ships boat, which is a separate build in itself, plus all the rigging, if I go down that rack, but I'm enjoying it all and that is the main thing, thanks for dropping in,

best regards John.

G'day John
I forgot about the ship's boat, that is really beautiful model by itself.

The interior is going to be interesting with the furniture etc. But at your speed it would be too long until you are on the masks and rigging etc.

I decided to attach the cat heads, so I worked out where the port side had to go and glued and pinned it in place, I then cut some thick paper to fit in the angle between the cat head and the front bulwark, and marked where the back of the cat head came to.

I then turned the paper over and marked the line on the other side, and used this to position the starboard cat head.

Next up was to fit the carving between the cat heads.

The carving after it had been waxed and fixed in place.

Then I turned my attention to the port side foc'sle rail, I held up the rail and trimmed the end to the left of the pic, to match the starboard one

Then I measured the length to match, and trimmed it.

And after waxing I glued it in place on the port side,

I simply love the way you show us every step in your thinking process. I know it will help me a huge amount when I'll be doing mine.

That blue is absolutely perfect colour. What's the name of it, if you don't mind me asking?
Again another example of an excellent kit being constructed by a 'master ship builder'.

Hi John,

This is a great build log. I've had my eye on this kit for about a year now but the cost of the kit is currently out of my price range. Maybe some day I'll be able to afford it.

The carvings are what drew me to this kit. I have been building the ZHL Le Requin kit for about a year now, and the boxwood carvings in that kit are the best I've every seen, so perfectly milled, so detailed and clean looking. I've still got months to go on the masting and rigging but I know I'll finish it and have a model I'll be proud to display in my home and eventually pass on to my daughter some day.

Thanks for posting such a detailed build log. I'll be following it to the end and hopefully some day I'll have the opportunity to build this kit myself.

Take care,

Bob

G'day Greg, everything is OK, just been having a bit of a run around with appointments etc, were both OK, thank you for asking after us, the colour of the paint is as below,
Revel paint number 52
I will probably be slowing down a bit on the RC as I have a couple of others I have to get finished for the kids, big kids now, one of them is the Freidrich Whilhelm Zu Perferde kit / scratch, which I already have a build log going on, and the other that I might start soon is the Royal William in 1/48 scale scratch but using different things for the decorations etc, hope you are all keeping well and your move is going according to plan,

best regards John.
