Hello folks. We’re located in Las Cruces, NM, and my husband is a retired blacksmith. We’re using a local auction company to sell the last of our blacksmith shop equipment, online. I’m listing my Dad’s model ship building tools and equipment in the same online auction. The admins here have very kindly allowed me to share the link with this forum; I don’t think there are many model ship builders in NM, and I’d like to get my Dad’s tools to other model ship builders who will enjoy them as he did.

June 13 is the last day of bidding. On June 15, bidders can pick up their items at our home in Las Cruces, or items can also be shipped to non-local bidders by the auction company (by arrangement with them.) Our home will be open on Friday June 9 so local bidders can see the items in person (if any of you are close by!)

Items include: Unimat Edelstaal lathe, machinist’s cabinet, Preac table saw, Micro-Mark 10” disc sander, Jarmac disc sander, MicroLux variable speed multi-saw, vintage Foredom dental drill, Badger airbrush/compressor, Floquil/Model Master airbrush thinners, a small buffer, Craftsman 3-D rotary sander, small woodworking planes/spokeshaves, tabletop workbench, plank bending tools, tools for making treenails, jeweler’s saws, clamps, vises, files, brass stock, bins of assorted wood, and model ship building magazines.

Here’s the auction link. My Dad’s model ship tools/equipment are Lots 2250 through 2276. The auction terms are at the top, and you can scroll down to see the items for sale.
https://bid.hansenauctiongroup.com/ui/auctions/100260

The link above has information about terms (please note 10% buyer’s fee) as well as payment methods, pick up, and shipping. There are no reserves; each item sells to the highest bidder at the close of bidding on the 13th. The auction company’s phone number is (575) 800-4648, to ask them about shipping.

Some of the photos in the listings are unclear, so I’ll be adding my own photos here in subsequent posts. I’ll include a link for each item, to take you directly to the listing. I hope you’ll feel free to ask questions about any item, or the bidding process, and I’ll do anything I can to help! Thanks very much for your interest, and for the chance to see if anyone in this forum can use some of Dad’s tools.

Some nice items, I have registered and placed bids on a few items of interest.
Thank you Kurt, much appreciated. I believe this kind of auction format is out of the norm for many of us, but because it was a good fit for our blacksmithing equipment, my husband and I decided to go this route. For some reason...there don't seem to be many model ship builders here in the desert, so I really appreciate the chance to reach out here to you folks! Dad would be pleased. I don't know which forums he belonged to, but I know he got a lot of enjoyment from being part of the model ship building community. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions about the process (it's all new to us, too.) Sheri

Thanks, Kurt! Just so you know, the local auction company handling our equipment sale will ship; they're working with bidders to ship our 500 pound power hammer, so shipping the model ship tools shouldn't be any problem. Just in case you're tempted by anything. ;)
WOW. So many nice tools. NM is too far away for me though.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Ross,
I believe that every one of us on this Forum offers our deepest condolences to you for the loss of your father, and I am certain that he is very pleased with what you are doing. For those of us that have accumulated unique tools associated with this hobby, it is difficult to think of them being cast aside or allowed to rust in some storage place. Making them available so that other modelers might use them to create works of art is a fine tribute to your father's memory. God Bless you both, Terry
