New to the forum but have building models for the past 50 plus years. All subjects but of ships, the Royal Lewis by Mamoli is my last one. Working on the Sovereign Of The Seas by Mantua at this time. I have built and finished in my collection Wasa, Yacht Mary, Royal Caroline and many plastic ships such as 1/200 scale USS Missouri, USS Arizona, 1/48 scale Trumpeter U552 U-boat with lights, 1/72 scale USS Gato Sub and many 1/350 scale ships. Akagi, Yamato, Bismarck, Hornet, Yorktown, Enterprise. Many other unbuilt kits still in their boxes that I am sure will long out live me.

also from my side a warm welcome here on board of our forum

Welcome! There are a couple others working on the Sovereign here. I'm one of them. Very interested in seeing some pictures of your Royal Louis. Very nice ship!
Sorry for the poor quality of the images as the mirrors reflect. But, you get the idea. Sorry for the misspelling of The Louis. I live in Lewis and Clark County and see it spelled that way often.

Wow! What a beautiful ship!
I see you collect some WWII German militaria also. I have a small collection myself. Did you make any additions to the Royal Louis? It looks magnificent, and larger than 1:100 scale in your photos.

Hi Kurt,
Thank you so much for the kind words. The Louis is 1/90 straight from the box by Mamoli. It is a crowded room with all my collection. There are some German WWll items and models. Walls of box art and other pictures, I was afraid some of those images could offend some people but couldn't take the pictures without it showing up. Thanks for noticing. A couple more pictures enclosed. Now for the real conversation my friend, YOU are the REAL MODEL MASTER!! I am blown away by your La Couronne and Sovereign. I took no less then a 100 pictures of your Sovereign to help me in my build. I have spent at least 3 or 4 hours studying your Sovereign build. It is so good to talk to a fellow modeler who "Gets It". I have nobody in my circle who has any care or appreciation of what goes into these things. This is the first time I have connected with anyone on line concerning ship building or modeling. Are you strictly wooden ships of sail? I wished you were my neighbor.

Hi Steven,

Wow. Thanks for the compliments! I still consider myself and intermediate builder, but am not afraid to modify and make parts to enhance a model after doing the proper research on a feature. When I was young, I built about 150 plastic models, but then my skills were low, and painting is still a challenge. My air brush only has 3 hours of use so I need to practice. I'm just doing wooden ship models now, the ones I always wanted to do but lacked the skill for in my teenage years. Models are just one of many hobbies, some of which are crafting medieval armor and weapons, including crossbows, and WWI and WWII German firearms. I recently acquired a 1917 Spandau MG 08/15 which has been serviced and will be ready to shoot next month or so. Is that an Eisene Kreuz erster Klasse mit Eichenlaub in your photo? Nice. Wish you were my neighbor too!

Kurt
