Before cai start my next kit started looking for a better work station. This Occre table looks good but only 17.5”tall. Asking if only one used this and added some height and wheels before I order
 
Sorry, looking at Occre 19110 work table before I start next kit but it isn’t very tall, only 17.5”.
If anyone has used it and added a taller base and wheels or how it worked outi
 
To each his own but that looks to me like a waste of money. First of all, if the top area that the locomotive sits on is intended as the work surface and the vertical dimension is 17-1/2 “ that’s not nearly enough space. Second, it doesn’t look like it’s rigid enough. Third, the most often used tool in my workshop is one of my four different vises. There is obviously nowhere on this to mount one nor does the unit appear strong or rigid enough to withstand forces from sawing, filing, etc. I consider my work surface to be “semi disposable.” Over time it gets scuffed and beat up and I don’t hesitate to temporarily nail or even screw fixtures to it as necessary. It’s easy to refinish.

If all you plan to do is assemble kits from supplied parts the work station might work but I suggest putting $$ towards a proper workbench. Big box home improvement stores sell folding metal legs for tables. A pair of these, and a 1/2 sheet of plywood stiffened underneath by a pair of 2”x 2” wood strips would result in a far more useful work surface.

Currently, I'm just using spring clamps. I'm not sure what I'll use after the planking is done. I think the Occre jig and accessories are a bit too expensive.IMG_0941.jpeg
 
I have the Occre work station. It is really a cabinet that sits on top of your work table. I use it to store supplies and organize wood strips and brushes. The tray on top is detachable, and comes with cradles to support the hull of a model. Theoretically you can use it as a work base for your hull. I just use it for more storage. You cannot use this as your only work surface. I bought my work tables from Mr. Amazon.

I put a couple of these from Home Depot in my shop. They have them in different lengths and they are adjustable height. They also have casters so you can roll them around. It makes it really easy to get to the other side of the model. I'm very happy with them.

90% of the time my ship is on a foam cradle similar to what Corsair suggested. The rest of the time it is on a keel clamp like this one


Which is easy to make one yourself.

With the ship you are constructing it looks like you have a minimal keel to work with. I
have the same with my black swan. I found mounting it on my portable vise worked well.

I'm Currently having the problem that my desk-height bench is too high: it makes my arms ache when rigging the topmasts.
I have beached my model at low tide on a cheaper version of the adjustable table suggested by Corsair.
Aside: Note the strips pinned from the catheads to the end on of the bowsprit. Caveat bumpkins!

Bench Mods
The advantage of a home-made bench - or perhaps just an old table picked up in a junk shop - is that one can customise it for one's current needs.
The photo below shows a removable extension I have recently made so support the model bow or stern on because my bench is not very deep. It is made from a piece of scrap wood and a couple of floating shelf brackets reversed. I can drill more holes in the edge of the bench to plug it in different places or (with other two brackets from the pack) make a shelf with different shape.
On the side of the bench is sheet of ply with holes drilled to receive the tools currently active.
Do not try this with The Admiral's coffee table.
