DeAgostini Cisne Branco - a.k.a Occre Gorch Fock

New topic - this is a build of Brazilian tall ship Cisne Branco from DeAgostini series of 120 issues (but some remade from the Occre Gorch Fock templates)
 
I was unable to find issues 1, 2 and 3 so had to draw plywood parts from Occre templates and cut them using the laser cutter. Being unable to source 5mm ply I had to make some adjustments and use 6mm instead. It required some additional sanding but nothing major. The Occre manuals available on their website helped me trace the parts using Autocad.
 
The Altaya/Deagostini issue of the “Cisne Branco” is based on the Occre Gorch Fock kit. This makes it probably very little accurate as the Cisne Branco is a sister ship of the dutch “Stad Amsterdam”. I believe Deagostini issued international versions of the same kit with slight alterations to satisfy local markets with their corresponding national representatives of similar tall ships. I won’t do major accuracy checks, I want a clean “out of box” build.

Quick update: finished basic frame with great results. I cannot praise enough the quality of the fit of the parts, thanks Occre for a great design and execution. Really impressive. Minor sanding was required to remove the diecut supports left.

I am enjoying this build immensely. The parts i had to make integrated perfectly with the original parts from the official issues. Remember I was unable to get issues 1, 2 and 3 plus the ones after 93 (from a total 120 issues)
 
Following some research and a folder of the Cisne Branco kindly provided by a fellow modeller, I decided to extend the bow and stern decks. The GF>CB transition provided by the publisher was not really accurate in manu aspects, but this is the most pronounced and easiest to fix. I think I said it before, my idea is not to go crazy about accuracy but that will not stop me from correcting what is possible without delaying too much construction.

Another area I am looking to improve is the deck planking. I will experiment with laser engraved planking, tonincrease number of planks to a more scale size.
