With the great help of Dave Stevens' preliminary build log, I've been able to start making plans to scratch build the Adventure Galley. Hoping to save myself some trouble later on, I was wondering if someone could help me locate the deck plans for a typical 17th century Frigate? Once I make and plank the hull I have no idea what to do with the deck, masts and rigging. What it should look like. What goes where. Any help you guys can give would be really appriciated. Thanks.

using the book The sailing Navy List by Davis Lyons I checked the early drawing of 4th rate frigates. There is not one single drawing for a deck layout only hull lines for all the ships listed.
So the next step would be to find the earliest deck layout for a 4th or 5th rate ship. These early frigates and galleys were later reclassified as 5th rates.

Thanks Dave. I’ve been getting pictures of every 5th rate Frigate I can find (models, paintings, drawings) so that I can copy what I see, when the time comes. I commented to you in your Adventure Galley build log. I was hoping that you had an update, with some pictures, on how your project is going.

I too have been researching the decks of early 4th and 5th rate ships and I think enough research can be put together to come up with a reasonably historic layout for the deck.

I am putting together the next part of the build log on installing the wales and upper planking.

Great! I would love to see some picture of your progress, when you get a chance.
