Privateer Viper 1/24th Scale

G'day Joseph
She's coming on marvelously mate.
I thought the frames would be double and joined together for strength.
This area of ship building is quite new to me, as all of my previous models were POB not POF.
Sorry for my ignorance
Greg

Thanks but this is a small privateer usually they had many single frames as they were small and also built for speed. the bigger ships like frigates etc used double frames more. plus this was originally a swedish yacht and not a warship.

Thanks for your explanation, it makes sense to me now.

So last couple days i had to get up early to go have some blood work done for annual insurance thing and tomorrow to take father in law to 2 dr appts. since i work 2-11 and get home abt 1145 its hard getting up at 7 am so only got a couple frames done each night. but I am off tomorrow and friday so hope to get most of them finished through then. I lack abt 17 more for the front then another 20 ish for the rear. lol this is the really slow part of drawings since i have 9 parts for every frame. im always glad when this is done as things speed up a little

So this will give you a better idea of where I am now. I have cut out the ports and am going to frame around them today. It will give me a break from the tedium of the frames. So far I have made 24 frames x 9 pieces each for a total of 216 parts so far of around 700 total for the frames

yes that is why I am drawing it up will be building it at 1/24th scale afterwards. Once I get the basic frames all finished I will start cutting out parts while I work on drawing the rest up

Also as I go along and get the plans for me to start cutting I will post a link in case anyone else would like to do it also. Right now it is basically a cross section but want to get to the bow and maybe release as a front half ship where you can have the main mast and bow rigged if wanted. I dunno I am going fo rthe full ship and that will leave many possibilities for someone to build 5 different way possibly.

One more oar port to go and back to frames
