Swift 1805 - Artesania Latina - 1/50 Scale by Barry1 [COMPLETED BUILD]

Masts, boom, bowsprit and gaffs shaped, stained and varnished with bowsprit added to the ship. I added nails to bottom of bowsprit support structure to help secure it to the deck. I saw this in a build log and it really is a good way to secure small pieces. These all were very straightforward projects with the only challenging area being shaping the brass to securely hold the top mast on the main. Next up will be adding the two deck structures and setting the masts on the ship. After that it looks like things will move to completion fairly quickly. 28CF6949-3C71-4FBE-8658-B5384B2BDE5F.jpeg21ECCF7D-7F97-4BA3-8DD3-C8E24E7D3A9C.jpegDC09E6F1-73BF-456F-9AB4-F906B0BC11F8.jpeg

Coming along very nicely
I built this kit many years ago, it was in a different box, I believe the new version is made in China.
This was a very enjoyable built. I did use it to experiment with finishes- weathered paints, grout/varnish, rusty handrail, also added a two part bowsprit,.
Seems you're really enjoying this build too.

Thanks John. It is a nice kit. Very straight forward. I wish AL had kept the older version's lower deck. I guess they were cutting costs on the newer version. All the parts and wood have been good quality though.

The Swift is done! I included a few pics of finished ship I added the sails after soaking in tea to age then a bit. Adding the running rigging and sails was very straightforward. This was a fun build and I would highly recommend this AL kit for beginners or someone who wants a fun build that produces a nice looking ship. The cold weather is here in Maryland so I’ll be moving the shipyard in doors. It’s back to the basement.
For those who celebrate Happy Thanksgiving. F8723FBC-EFBC-4F70-917B-1F4F016EC77D.jpeg39655AC0-B2C9-42FA-B264-941478B8ED07.jpegD94EEEB9-E329-4E48-96F0-3DC6F13052EA.jpeg3291B376-4552-42B6-97C0-CCCE7AA4A955.jpeg

That's a great looking boat, very neat and tidy. The sails certainly bring these smaller boats to life. I enjoyed reading through your building of her,

Cheers Andy

Beautiful!! I love it. All the colour tones match perfectly. Nice job.
So, what's your next build?
Thanks! I started to build the Rainbow J Class America’s Cup 1934 defender. It’s the ship that defeated Endeavour which seems a bit more popular with builders.
