I've been working for some time on a scratch build of C1 USS Newark protected cruiser, circa 1890. She's an interesting ship with a unique history. I'm working today on the decks, trying to get a decent representation of the deck planking in 1/350 scale. This deck is 3D printed with 6 pounder gun mounts and railings in place. The plank lines are recessed and filled with ink. The excess ink is removed with water and Qtips. Please let me know what you think.

I think that this is a great project! It is great to see a model of this ship, ignored by the ship modeling community. Let us see more.

It would be good to see a kit of this ship and its hard shell, maybe done like AL Eagle, with plastic hull and deck and masts all traditional ship modeling.
 
I'm in the process of creating every single part of this ship. It will be fully CAD pesigned and 3D printed.
