Hi I am building a 1835 Packet Schooner, the Seagull (see build log). I am interest in getting more information on deck prisms and hold and cabin lighting. Any information and photos greatly appreciated.

There are photos of old deck prisms on line. Have you read the information by Stephen Wilk? https://srichardwilkcom.wordpress.com/deck-prisms/

A hexagonal Deck Prism. A hexagonal hole would be cut in the deck and

the prism would be placed into it, pointed side down.

Thank you for your replies and setting me off in the right direction. Appreciate the link to article research as well as the photos from a real installation and the fact you can get them today! I think it is true to say that a 1835 packet ship would have had these installed, particularly since it is reported to be fitted out to a high standard for paying passengers. I was wondering about night time cabin illumination?
