I give up! :(

You never know who’s lurking in the background just looking for this kind of modeling. I might even try something similar given my not so acute eyesight and not so nimble fingers. I’ve been a model railroader for over fifty years and have had to adapt and change gauges ( N, HO,O to finally G) as life moved on.

Long story short, I’ve really enjoyed your posts, been amazed at the models you’ve build and look forward to seeing more.

I really like your models. I also make miniatures, but the actual ships I try to reproduce are smaller than the ones you make, so my scales are bigger than yours.

I have verified that is true that the naval miniature ia a type of modelling that has few followers, but I am now unable to make a model that measures much more than 12 or 13 cm and, above all, that occupies me more than two or as maximum three months of dedication.

I hope that although we are a small audience, do not deprive us of enjoying your next models, which will remain a true enjoyment for the eyes.

Amazing detail! I admire your skill. I really love building miniature ships, (especially in bottles), so many plus’s, small workspace, and you can fit so many more on a shelf! There does seem to be quite abit of interest but it seems to be scattered in small numbers far and wide across various sites on the internet. A miniature ship model section on here could prove quite popular I think! . Never give up! You create something really special!

No - you don't miss anything. I am giving up as far as forums are concerned, but I am not giving up building them. I cannot maintain any interest in forums where no-one else is building anything similar, and rarely say anything about the subject anyway. I can't help it. My Facebook Group "Merchant Ships in Miniature" has over 1,000 members, is extremely active, so that is where I will be from now on. Just look here on SOS: Maritime History Build Logs: 19th & 20th Century If I don't say anything, it just remains dormant! I have tried my very best here, but have failed in all respects! I will speak when spoken to, but that is as far as it goes!

I'm sorry that you're leaving ... I do not use FB ... so I guess I won't be hearing much from you in the future ...
Your work has been truly inspiring to me to do greater things than I thought possible of myself.
You will be missed, to be sure.

Nothing to stop anyone who does see my Facebook group copying the images and posting them here - if they are interested enough!

I have not commented very often on other people's build logs for two reason - I am not interested in warships, and I am not interested in kits! either! It is nothing to do with not being star of the show! I would really like to see other modellers building things that interest me, such as merchant ships. In my Facebook group, there are a vast range of merchant ship models being built or shown, by modellers from all over the world, that cover scratchbuilt, kits, plastic, wood, card etc, and I am not dominating it at all. I have never been particularly cursed with ambition, and have achieved very little in life. In fact I left the rat race in 1992 (at the age of 48), throwing in a high paid job at sea to work for less than the minimum wage in order to just have a quiet and obscure life - I joined SOS because I was invited, and have tried very hard to stir up some interest, but, as I said, have failed in all respects! I love your work Brother and will eventually build some tiny ships with great detail. I just have a ton going on ATM with large builds that I need to get done. As a ship in Bottles Builder the small ships are of great interest to me especially with all the great detail you add. your work has inspired me to push further in the ship in bottle craft to make them the very best I can make them. I would also love to make many of the ships I love in small scale so I can actually own some of my builds. I mentioned before the wife doesn't like the big ships cluttering up the house so I always give them away when I would really love to keep every single one of them. When I get caught up on current builds I will be building some micro scale ships and with the information I have gotten from you and your writings on the subject I think its going to be an easier transition to building some small scale stuff with outstanding detail. I have been working on the water and that is something I really need to get right the article your wife wrote for me has helped tremendously. I'm starting to understand shadow and light and how they work together to build depth
