Hi all,
In my "hello" thread it was pointed out to me that I could post my other modeling interest; trains
So here it is!
I build small model railroads for exhibitions from 1999 on. Main focus is American trains. In 2013 I build a small layout 8 foot long ans 1 foot deep. I did that together with my wife, she did the main building on it. We did build it in a few months and it stood on display in the summer exposition of the Dutch Railway Museum in Utrecht called "Sporen naar het front" in 2013.
The layout is based on real places, the width of the track is not. I did it in narrow gauge what was sometimes the case in the South during those times. I chose the 5,5 mm scale so I could use ready to run ;ocomotives in 0N30 scale from Bachmann. 0 scale is 1:48, in 5,5 mm it is 1:55. Adding the narrow gauge makes it 1:55n3.
All track is handlaid with code 80 rail on selfcut ties from tong spatulas. Spikes are from the German firm "Wenz Modellbau". The hotel is handbuild by my wife Wanda and is build from coffe stir sticks. All figures are metal and bought in England from wargame manufacturers.

This was a nice one to do. We also did one in 2011 too. She is a very handy woman
