    Sao Gabriel 1/100 scratch

No problem, we have 14ºC here and sun, and the trip to the museum takes 15m by tramway. I don't even pay because I am more than 65y. So, next week I'll make a trip to Museu da Marinha and take some photos. It is a nice museum in a very beautiful monument (Jeronimos). Regards JL

    Sao Gabriel 1/100 scratch

OK, Tomek, I'll visit the Museum and take some pictures one maybe this week or the next. I have to translate what you want, though, because I don't speak very good "marine" and I need to translate those nautical terms.:cool: Regards JL

    Sao Gabriel 1/100 scratch

Hi Tomek. I live in Lisbon, not far from "Museu da Marinha". If you need some information maybe I can help. Very good work with the São Gabriel. Next São Rafael and Bérrio? :) :) Regards JL

Thanks Uwe, I'll do my best although I don't know if that is enough .

Port side has now a wall (not Trump's, more like Pink Floyd's ) perfectly ligned up with the bulkheads and ready to receive the planking. I confess it is much harder work than the method Occre advised, but like this I can glue the planks perfectly and I am sure the gunports are all at...

San felipe 1690 zhl kit 1:50

For me it was 40+ years ago and I agree, best think I ever did. But it was difficult. Very!

Well, it works (for me, at least). For lightre decks I am using dark grey instead of black, with better results. JL

Next step: gunports. The least I can say about this is that Occre has a very funny way of treating the gunports. Very funny indeeed. In fact so funny that it took me a lot of thinking how to avoid that method and make something more real and taking me to a better result. The instructions tell...

    Mantua 1/200 Hms Victory Build

I've read the italiasn and french instructions and there is a mistranslation. What they mean is to dilute the glue with water and then apply on the planking. This helps the planks to better glue to each other. The aim is to let the glue enter between the planks to "block between them the planks"...

    Mantua 1/200 Hms Victory Build

I just saw what they say, I'd forget it, never heard of aliphatic being used that way. If you mixed the glue with some sawdust it would make sense. But not the way they say. Anyway it would do no harm to do so, that's your choice... As I said I'd fill the lerger gaps with some spare wood and...

    Mantua 1/200 Hms Victory Build

Aliphatic glue is not used as sanding sealer. It is used to cement things, not coat them. As Ray said, use a good sanding sealer for that effect. Never heard of using aliphatic (or PVA) to coat. Who told you to do so? JL

No, it is not the same thing. OcCre sells some of their kits in packs, the larger and more expensive ones. Normally six packs. See here (you can see it in english): http://www.occre.com/modelismo-en-packs.html Regards JL

I am getting to the conclusion that buying the kit in packs was not such a good idea. I only follow the kits instructions loosely and I like to think ahead and I have good reasons to do so, see the example bellow. Being so, I am at the point that although I am dealing with pack one, I need...

In my kit they are made of wood (ply), but I think I'll make them in proper wood, maybe pear. I don't like the look of ply. Good work, is looking very nice indeed. JL

Sovereign of the Seas Mantua 1:78 Greatly Enhanced - Vince P.

Yes, it is much easier to plank the hull if you do it with plakns cut in two (or more) parts. I discovered that myself... Great job. There are two attachment missing, by the way. Regards JL

OCCRE Nuestra Señora del Pilar de Zaragoza - Manila Galleon at 1/46

Proceeding with the build of the "monster", some small innacuracies appeared, after all this is only a kit and as such it has to have some flaws . It wouldn't be half the fun if it had not The alignement of the deck and the mast hole, for instance: Or a small misalignement with the...
