More progress on the New York

Work on New York's bow is coming along. I was not happy with the angle of the bowsprit so I re positioned it.

I have just finished putting copper "plates" on one side of the hull on my latest ship model, the New York. 60 hours over 14 days to do this about 1500 individual pieces. Now, on to the other side! Groan!

I worked at several different areas on the New York over the past week or so. Here are some photos of it. The pulley's on the cat head are the only ones I actually make. Also the 32 pounder bow chasers.

Personally, for the standing rigging I use cotton thread from bluejacket. I spin various thread diameters on a hand cranked rope walk from Model Expo. I wax the finished rope. Eventually when the model is done I mist ALL the rigging with clear flat acrylic spray, enough to coat the rope...

Ships wheel is done.

I have had enough practice for sure having done the her sister ships Columbus (top) and Delaware (bottom).

The adhesive on the copper tape appears to react with the primer. I have noticed that if I need to redo a section I did earlier (after a period of a few days at least), it is impossible to just peal it off. I need a chisel xacto blade to scrape it off and many times the primer comes with it.
