    Layout for copper plates

There is a pattern for the plates. The size of the sections vary depending on the size of the ship. The measurement of the sections seems to be arbitrary. This book describes it pretty good. I have a couple videos on my You tube channel where I show how I apply this. @gregbaumgartner8257.

USS Constitution Blue jacket kit # 1018

Constitution's Spar deck is pretty much done. The ship's wheel will go in much later after the rigging is done. I always end up breaking it otherwise. Fighting tops still need work lower masts are done.

    Layout for copper plates

Use adhesive backed copper tape. Use a gray primer undercoat as the adhesive on the tape seems to react chemically with the primer in a way that after a few days you will need a razor blade to get them off. To prevent the tape from curling up over time where it over laps, wipe the surface...

USS Constitution Blue jacket kit # 1018

I am building this model for a friend that got it from an Uncle that passed away in 2008. The "kit" is missing better than 2/3rd's of it parts. Nothing from the kit will be used except the hull. So, what? 90% of it will be scratch built. The stern of the solid hull was not correct so I had...

    USS Pennsylvania 1837 second build.

Bow and hull steps on the Pennsylvania are done.

    USS Pennsylvania 1837 second build.

Progress on the Pennsylvania's bow. The figurehead and scroll work were carved months ago and were used in a display at a local museum. So, the most time consuming portion of this was already done. That is why this part seems to be going so quickly.

    USS Pennsylvania 1837 second build.

Now that the balcony railing of the Pennsylvania is on I think I can call the stern done.

Except for the balcony railing, the stern decorations are done. Starting bow work now.

    USS Pennsylvania 1837 second build.

Starting bow work now. Just so you know, it is not that I work fast, it is just that I made things like the bowsprit, yards, masts, and carvings even before I had the bulkheads and keel cut.

    USS Pennsylvania 1837 second build.

The stern and quarter galleries on the Pennsylvania are almost done. Only the balcony railing is left.

I do not think the balcony was functional. It is only around 3' high. Here are a couple photos of my second build of her.
