    Request thoughts and prayers

I feel your pain. Been inside the MRI tube way too many times. I am not a fan of chiropractor adjustments; however, it works for some. I have done acupuncture (paid out of pocket as those in my insurance were not rated that high), and I found relief there (for arthritis in my hip and knee). Yes...

Ah, the holidays and how work slows. Also, have a bit of eye issues keep coming up (glaucoma suspect and a touch of retinopathy) so took a break until got news today that: you should be fine, just eye appts every 6 months. For the model, I have had to redo the CL frame (3rd time will be a...

Wow--been year. Started back up. Completed the frame drawings and keel layout. Building board is all together. Keel is assembled is installed, a few frames are built and keel holders set in place. No, production of frames. This is my dowel production (minus the band-saw). The bamboo is...

Not down, just an sort of epiphany.

As I have been working, and doing this hobby I noticed I was reading a bit about ships. Not the war ships, but more about merchant ships, yachts, and such. Indeed, maybe because I served on warships, or that I am not a fan of gun ports and painting everything; but, I found myself not enjoying...

Hermione Lafayette by Artesania Latinia 1:89 Scale

Well--it has been a bit. Have been focused on other parts of life, and just got back to the bench, which has remained a mess over the past few months. Progress topside and on the port side. Looking ahead and making some cuts in the ribbing in the bow.

Thanks Messi, my decision was in part that the supplied capstan looked liked a wart more than a capstan. In addition, I did rough calculations at scale and it should be about 11 mm or so in total height (based on the video and...

Hermione Lafayette by Artesania Latinia 1:89 Scale

Just realized--2 years working on this build. A lot of life happened. But, been busy working. Here are a few updates (I am just about done with both bells, lost assembly pics with a phone crash). For the bow hand rails, I used some bamboo dowels I made. Not happy with results but w/o phone...

Help? Brass black/pewter black with white metal

I did some experiments with some white metals the Casey Brass Black (I was experimenting with some jeweler wire). It would not blacken the wire, no matter what method (soaking, brushing). For fun, I left one type of wire in a bit of solution overnight and it was gone in the morning.

Purchased shortly ago / sthg new in your workshop -> present it here

Bought a Lazy-Susan bearing for about $15 (all metal with metal bearings), and put some plywood I had around. Easy to put on larger stock for larger models if I need. I put the back end of a clothes pin under an edge to lock in place. Mounted to some Revell plywood I had stashed for something...

Gun carriages all installed (need to put the lines down. Installed some post for the outer railings--not sure actual nautical name, I would have called it the #$%@ thing forward on the rail. I thin kit should be assumed that there will always be some touch up painting. Ready to blow up...

Hermione Lafayette by Artesania Latinia 1:89 Scale

Carriage factory has been working, a push before vacation next week:) On the left are finishing touches (sanded down the outboard faces and put a new layer of paint, didn't like the look) before final assembly. Right is repairs, or some I took apart for a redo. The axles are copper, I used 2...

Hermione Lafayette by Artesania Latinia 1:89 Scale

Working on carriages. Cleaned up barrels with a bit of scraping, and sanding. I use Legos (bottom right) to square up the carriages. My slop sink (best investment for a few bucks). Casey's on the shelf in a jar, two jars of water (one for dunks between, the other for a final), a...

Hermione Lafayette by Artesania Latinia 1:89 Scale

Progress on the build, on my eye as well (about 50% improvement every 3 months). Pin rails are on. I was going to make the pins and not use the supplied brass, but at this scale is perhaps the definition of madness. So I just did some prime and painted the supplied brass wire (I like burnt...

    Vacation in Quebec

Thanks! I think that was our 2nd thing to start on--French. Just using an app to get the basics down. Traveling internationally I found the words you need are: Hello, thank you, please, where is the bathroom, I have diarrhea, and :)beer (but, 'beer' seems to always work).

    Vacation in Quebec

We are going to Quebec for our summer vacation this year, I think the admiral picked as a Korean drama she watched filmed many scenes in Quebec. We will be there for a bit over a week. Any recommendations? Anyone there what to say hello too?

It has been a bit, my double vision has been quite a pain when modeling. But, it has gotten better. I cleaned my bench today to get a clear mind and started work again. Putting on rails on both sides, with my phone camera it looks a bit crappy. When trying to work with my bad vision at first...
