Here’s a few more if people are interested. It’s an MFH kit, eye-wateringly expensive but amazing.

It doesn’t follow that an interest in ship building equates to not being technically literate. windows 7 was never great. Windows 10 X64 is better in every way. Yes you do need to learn how to use it but it’s not difficult. people talking about XP, it’s really not sensible to be clinging on to...

Well I wouldn’t say it was simple, but here’s how I made mine: https://shipsofscale.com/sosforums/threads/hms-victory-1-72-caldercraft.2923/post-58355

    Sopwith Camel F-1, WWI Fighter, 1:16 scale (3/4" = 1')

Reading your post, I also built a live cockpit for my X-Plane Baron 58 you might like. You should take a look at X plane 11, it’s amazing. Also orbx are just about to release US scenery, I have the Uk Version and it’s incredible.

I’ve got their albatross. They’re not bad kits as long as you don’t mind laser burn on your ply parts. There’s a very nice build log of the camel over on Britmodeller if you want some inspiration: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234925788-116-sopwith-camel/ ” If you...

I’ve always felt that the rudder doesn’t look right on this kit and couldn’t put my finger on why. Examining photos of the actual thing, it was because the front of the rudder was a square section, butting up to another square section on the hull. It should be chamfered to 45° Like this. this...

Like it! Is that a re-purposed knitting needle you’re using as a drive shaft? If so, does your wife know you have it? Mine would kill me :) Nick

Thanks for the kind remarks. I coated everything with very thinned down PVA (white woodwork adhesive) mostly to reduce fuzz, but also to lock everything in a bit. I know it's against the law, but I do use superthin CA adhesive for the construction of these things. I apply it with a thin wire...

As an old IT guy I 'm very familiar with servers and of course the humble mouse. Just not this kind:- first I turned down a former for the mouse from scrap dowel, I drilled it out first to suit the diameter of the thread it was going on :- I've modified my home made server (see earlier...

H.M.S Enterprise plank on frame CAF Models 1/48.

Hi Jim, the decals are the same as for plastic models. Soak in water and apply. The model has a painted frieze, not carvings. Nigel, thank you. Yes I will apply a coat of Testers dull coat lacquer before applying the decals. And the blue I am using is correct period colour. Some models are...

Hi everyone, I’ve been doing a bit more work on my Victory. I was never very happy with my mast-making set up, I have a model engineers metal working lathe, and a little ‘toy’ mantua lathe I’ve never really used. So I thought I would put some effort into getting a better setup. The main...

Here’s my technique for hammock nets. I make a folded paper template and cut some tulle slightly oversizeI put some weight (a scalpel is the right size and shape I find) to ensure the net conforms to the hammock cranes, then stitch the first vertical edge. Then fold the top edge of net over and...

So managed to take some proper pictures today - the last few things I have been working. Were it not for macro lenses and wives, I don't think I'd ever dust anything. Looking at these I still need to work on my seizing then, as well as some general tidying up and of course dusting!

So dipped my toe in the wonderful world of knitting with string today, or ‘rigging’ as I think you experts call it. There’s probably a great deal wrong with this to the trained eye, but I’ve enjoyed myself, and getting into the rhythm of it now - it turns out it’s all about tension then! Please...

So back to the victory - current project is s rope server. I’ve 3d printed two pairs of gears with bosses (using rack and pinion plugin In sketchup) and pressed some small ball races I had knocking around the workshop onto them. These will be placed into an adjustable frame just as soon as I...
