    Bandsaw blade options

Mine is a 16" 3 wheel bandsaw. I somewhat underpowered to do the carpenter / cabinetmaker tasks I bought it for, but works well with a 1/2" coarse skip tooth blade for re-sawing up to about 6" wide and a 1/8" blade for cutting frames and bulkheads and such for modeling use. Much quicker than...

    Difficult Proxxon tools choice

I agree 100% Having been a machinist, I've used everything from Micro and mini, to G & L boring mills with 8 inch diameter spindles. Every machine is designed to do a specific task, mills, lathes, drill presses etc. Some of each group are even more specifically designed such as horizontal...

    New in the workshop

Very nice. Much more adaptable than mine. This I built using the spacing frame from the kit, but it's a one use thing. I really like yours.

Questions and Worries about Keel Clamps

I use the foam one's too. There is also a smaller version for 1/700 and one for 1/350 scale plastic ships or train cars too. No fear of marring a paint job either.

    Build log The Whaler Essex

Yes, pictures please. I want to build all 5 ESSEXES. There were 3 sailing Essex's, The Aircraft Carrier CV/CVA/CVS-9 and the LHD-2. computers and model building

One of my old sayings is "to err is human, to err requires a computer" I work for the military and get tired of trying to open old emails to validate facts on a subject only to have the computer say I can't open the old email because the users security certificate has expired.

    Clamps?

These are some of mine. I know I missed a few. I scope out dollar stores, sewing stores, notions, woodworking stores, you name it, keeping an eye out for anything that might grip stuff. I've used weights, string, elastic cord, painters tape, wire, small zip ties and more, but still run into...

Yup, I've been off track on the build. Too many other builds going plus life events distracting me as well. I'll be getting back on it soon though. Thanks for your prompting and encouragement. EJ

Discussion What are the Rotary tools in your tools chest?

I couldn't help myself. Is a closeout at Menards for $23.99. Plus, I had some rebate coupons to spend too. Quite small, 4.8V, not real powerfull but has a slow low of 6500 rpm, speed maybe good for drilling, and a high speed of 15000 rpm works well for sanding disks or drums on wood. Too fast...
