1/350 Akagi Hasegawa - Completion of a project long overdue

I have also one of these fibreglass erasers and use it very often
preparing brass for blackening , fine sanding, but also removing the last small laser char rests
=> definitely good to have on the working desk

Thankyou and no I don't, The amount of sanding dust produced is microscopic and never gets the chance to be airborne as the process is so slow and light. No this isn't a Vallejo product, just one meant for automotive chip touch ups.
Haven't used them for years. Down here they range in price from NZD9.95 - NZD28.00 depending on the outlet. Hobby/Modelling shops are in the higher $range. Thank you for the reply.

Hello Nigel

I just join in the Ships of Scale because I want's to learn from ship modelers like you! I used to build pI haven't build ship before but I always found of Akagi so recently = I bought the Hasegawa Akagi at a reasonable price and also bought the Hasegawea PE Set A, B and C and Jackstay, but I cannot get hold of the Super Set (well, ebay do have it but in a very high price!) So I finally got the SS Model set. I also came across another builder in SSB who also build the Akagi and he also used the SS Model set, he mentioned that you helped him in sending a pdf of Hasegawa Super set instrunctions, I wonder if you can kindly send me the pdf file too??

Thanking for your kind considertations

With kind regards

Duke

Hello Duke

If you PM me your email I will have a go at scanning them through. It may be a couple of weeks before I can locate them though as all my hobby stuff has been moved around the house and workshop this last week.
I will drop you a PM when I have sent them through

Welcome Duke

In reading this thread Nigel sent the superset directions to me which I will forward to you if you wish. Also I used the SS superset of PE to great results. When you get the SS superset it contain 9 sheets of PE which I learned are in relation to the Hasegawa set instructions. Carefully study the PE and the instructions and you will see the SS numbers do not correspond with the Hasegawa instructions but there is a correlation.

Hi Nigel

Thank you very much for your kind offering and knowing you are busy right now, maybe I can ask Will to send me since he also extend his help! BTW, your works are just awesome and I have been reading twice already your WIP, a lot for me to learn!

With kindest regards

Hi Will

It's great to join in and it's a total new World for me, your works are also great and as I said to Nigel, a lots for me to learn from him and also from you too! I am deeply appreciated to your lending me a helping hand for the Hasegawa Super Set instructions and it will be great if you can send me at your earliest convenience.

Hi Nigel

May I kindly ask if you thin the plastic inside first before drilling the port holes?

Thanks and with kind regards

Duke

Hi Duke

I drilled first then thinned the plastic using a Proxxon ball shaped burr. I kept holding the hull to the light, you get to understand how translucent you can get the plastic before you break though

With regard to fiberglass pencils, it's not potentially inhaling the dust that bothers me, it's the little splinters of glass fibre that penetrate the skin now and then. That said they are very useful tools
