This is my first go at ship building. I have raced sailboats in my youth (Thistle). Now I am trying to use some of my skills to design and build my first ship.

I have found some files online that I have used to create my 3d model and print a lot of the components of the boat (see images below). In the process of designing and building this boat I have gained a lot of knowledge and even more questions.

I have floated the boat without rigging to balance the hall and check tip over (not sure what this is called).

One of the benefits of using the cad software is it will calculate the CG for you. I have posted and image of the hull drawing below with my CG shown. I would really like some feedback on the ideal location of the CG in the vertical position with respects to the waterline.

I will be making updates to this post as my progress moves forward. I am slowed down a little as a result of a surgery.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

a warm welcome here on board of our forum

Have you checked out the American Model Yachting Association website. Lots of information available from the AMYA specific to IOM radio controlled boats as well as local clubs, parts, etc.

Welcome from Maryland, more specifically the Northern Maryland Model Yacht Club.
By all means check out the AMYA and see if you can get your beautiful boat to comply with IOM class rules. Sailing RC boats is fun, but racing them is even more fun!
