A very interesting 3D - scan of the HMS Victory
In March The Downland Partnership Ltd were presented with the huge task of creating a 3D model of the HMS Victory. The survey forms the first step in a complete restoration of the ship with involvement by BAE Systems, the MOD and Fenton Holloway Ltd. Downland have been commissioned to create an individual 3D model of every structurally significant part of the ship. This will be used both as a means to analyse the ships structural strengths and weaknesses and as resource for future wood replacement schemes. The survey will be carried out using the latest in survey technology including Laser-Scanners and HDR Spheron cameras.
