3D guide to Britains most famous warship.

I recently came across this fascinating historical video series on HMS Victory and thought others here might enjoy it as well. The production quality and historical detail are excellent — particularly for anyone interested in Nelson-era naval history, ship construction, and the real vessel behind so many of our models.

Well worth a watch if you haven’t seen it already.

Thanks Dave..One of three projects going is a 1/48 cross section scratch build....cutting lots of futtocks in pear right now..sure I will find the info valuable

Thanks Dave for the reminder. This has been on my watchlist for a while but I keep getting distracted by other finds like this one, https://www.360cities.net/image/hms-victory-gun-deck
Plus I've been preoccupied with finding the photo I saw of HMS Victory that showed a plank tapered to a point, a fine point no less. And yes, I mean the actual HMS Victory, not a model. Really must track it down otherwise no one will believe me.

Hi Drzeus.

HMS Victory has had some rotten planks replaced by T. Nielson and shows planks tapering to a sharp point. https://tnielsen.co.uk/hms-victory-replanking/?utm_source=chatgpt.com

There’s also another possibility: you may have seen an image of a drop plank terminating into a nibbed or feathered end near the bow. In full-size shipbuilding these can look astonishingly sharp — much sharper than many model ship builders believe possible.
