advise on cutter build

working on a scratch built cutter at 1:48 scale circa 1770 from corel plans. on the plan sheet it shows the mast cap installed towards the aft. this makes the topmast sit aft of the main mast. need some advise if this is actually correct or if it could be a mistake in the drawings. after building ships with the usual mast cap facing forward this just looks weird to me. any advise would be appreciated or if there is a historical reference i can check out
 
can you show it with a photo of the drawing?
Would be easier to understand
 
Most cutters had the topmast placed before the main, the Hawke and Alert were exceptions placing it abaft. Which ship is this? Corel's King of Prussia is placed abaft, the Shenendoah forward
