Well it’s been a while since I completed the Amati titanic which was a great first project to undertake. So 7 months on with the Amati Bismarck and all is going well. What an amazing kit this is. The detail is immense and can be very trying when building. Have had to sit back sometimes to figure out how to attach certain pieces especially the really small ones into the correct place.
So here are photos of where I am up to and will continue to add as the build progressesIMG_2697.jpegIMG_2697.jpegIMG_2702.jpegIMG_2703.jpegIMG_2704.jpegIMG_2706.jpegIMG_2705.jpegIMG_2707.jpegIMG_2708.jpegIMG_2706.jpegIMG_2709.jpegIMG_2710.jpegIMG_2711.jpegIMG_2712.jpegIMG_2713.jpegIMG_2714.jpegIMG_2715.jpegIMG_2716.jpegIMG_2717.jpegIMG_2718.jpegIMG_2719.jpegIMG_2720.jpegIMG_2721.jpegIMG_2722.jpegIMG_2723.jpegIMG_2724.jpeg

They tried to camouflage her, then put that 'dirty-great' swastika 'target' on the stern above the screws!
No wonder at all that she was an easy target for 'stringbags'!:D

Really great detail on the superstructure. Is it all PE? What is a 'stringbag?' The detail on the guns should be very interesting to see when you get to them. Very nice work Navigator2709 but how do you see those tiny parts?

Thank you for the comments. I have great tweezers and a large standing magnifying glass. Pity my hands aren’t that steady tho lol.
The stringbags are a slang term for the old biplanes that the Royal Navy used at the start of the war. So old they were an embarrassment to those pilots brave enough to fly them. The correct term for them was swordfish torpedo boats

'Stringbag':- Slang for the Fairey Swordfish biplane torpedo bomber & recce.

Stringbags were before my time I guess. I've seen models of the plane but not one in person.Sounds like WW l stuff. What do you think of the standing magnifier glass? I assume you mean one with a secured base that can be moved around as you work. I think one would help me see the smaller parts and I'm not going to talk about any shaking hands. Reminds me of Don Knots who used to work at putting the pins in new hand grenades.

There is, or was, one restored flying 'Stringbag'. I saw it at Fairford Air Tatoo, circa 1995.

Hello everyone, well I took a break for a few months from building this model but picked it up again and I am glad I did. A very intricate and demanding model that gives a lot of joy along with frustration as well. Anyway here is where I am after approx 12 months of building. Still a good bit to do but getting excited at the prospect of actually completing this
