After building the Wright Flyer I decided I needed a simpler project to work on for a few days. Dug into the stash of ‘not yet done’ projects and decided that the Cannone da Costa Americano 1780-1812 (American Coastal Cannon 1780-1812; Mantua; 1:17) fit the bill.

It was a straight forward build; the hardest part was tying off the side and aft ropes that hold it to the display stand (little knots; big fingers). I decided to follow the color scheme in the directions and after staining the display base teak, painted the carriage a dull red and the wheels, elevating block & fittings black. I liked the color of the barrel and left it as is was in the box (very nice casting; nothing to clean up).

A nice little kit overall that only took 7 hrs to complete spread over 3 days. Nice way to ease into my vacation.
