I am reaching out to others who have built this ship. I am trying to get some of the smaller details correct, primarily because I am using this as a learning exercise. The drawings for the ship show the anchor on the fore deck as having a stock. I cannot find a piece in the kit. It also shows the block attached to the fore davit as being connected via a hoisting ring/gravity band. Again, I cannot locate any evidence of such in the parts. I would appreciate any light that could be shed upon these issues by anyone who may have answers.

This build is taking me a long time but I am enjoying the experience and finding that a first attempt at a build puts you in a good position to make a much better attempt to build a second version of the same kit. I have read with interest discussions on historical accuracy verses a finished product that pleases the eye of the builder. I have gone with the latter and am pleased with my efforts. I am 80 in a few days and have calculated that I will not live long enough to match the efforts of many of you on this forum.

Hallo @Digger
we wish you all the BEST and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Birthday-Cake
How is your work on the St.Roch going?

Thanks for the birthday wishes. The St Roch is advancing slowly and that suits me. I am learning a lot as I solve problems and move forward. Much time is spent on very small details and I am replacing some of the parts, such as blocks. The ones in the kit are terrible. The job will be finished by Christmas, either this one or the next.

I have run into a problem. I have some very nice 3mm single blocks that I have just received from Zoltan at Dry Dock Models and Parts. They are for my St Roch, the supplied parts being rubbish. I am trying to make a strop using (supplied) copper wire (0.5 mm). Everything is so small that I am finding it impossible to line everything up. I am thinking that I need to build a jig of some sort but cannot think of a model. This must be a fairly common problem and I am sure there are experts out there who have solved this issue. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Fletch Dog, for your useful and informative video. I watched with great attention, and while it did not directly solve my dilemma, it gave me hints on new directions to try. I think I have solved my case by using some of your tricks and choosing a finer wire with which to work The real problem is that at 3mm, the blocks are almost too small to even pick up, never mind working with them.
