I decided to build the Andrea Gail because I liked the movie, I think the boat is nice looking, and I wanted to work on something that would be a lot easier and take less time before jumping into a tall ship build. I've never posted a picture of my work on ships on any forum. Even though I built the Harvey back in 1994, I haven't finished another since. I have my eye on the Vanguard Indefatigable because it seems the Vanguard model kits are well explained and I like the big size.

This isn't really a log, but rather a photo documentation of my progress. I read many of the build logs here on this forum.

I ordered the Billings Andrea Gail a few weeks ago when it was half price. I watched several YouTube videos and read some build logs here. Most are of the 1/60 or scratch. Very few (I only found one) 1:30.

I started on this boat yesterday.

Twice I've had too remove a couple of pieces because I didn't notice a fine orientation detail in the "plans". I simply cut through the glue contact to
wiggle it apart and made the fix. I had the L R mixed up on two of the last bulkheads. I am pretty much building according to the kit but there are a few items for the deck that I may do differently. I'm not a fan of plastic on a wood model so some of the little things I may make out of wood (barrels) or wire (railing).

There are no written directions with the kit, but the pages of pictures are quite clear as long as one pays attention. I dry-fit everything before glueing. I will plank the bottom portion of the hull, but I'll be painting it after sanding. I have only a couple more steps (tomorrow) before I begin the planking.
