I was thinking of making a group on FaceBook called Model Ship Builders of Phoenix, but cant until I am able to invite people. It would also be nice to know people in my area that are sharing a common interest.

I am not going to be able to help you in Phoenix but I live in Sun City Tucson.We are in the process of setting up a modelers workshop to cover all areas of modeling.My guess would be the Sun City Phoenix,which is a lot older than Tucson,has a modeling club.In Tucson,we accept all including non residents, into our club.
 
We have a Club "The Ancient Mariners" in Sun City. 15 members, all pretty experienced builders. We meet the third Tuesday each month.
