Absolutely fantastic build and result. I have the Batavia myself and hope to get back to building soon. I ordered the walnut planks , so will be interesting to see difference. I also have received the new 3D ornaments, which weren't available when I bought the kit. Look much better. The quality of this kit is superb. Not many kits have so many bulkheads and 6mm thick, which is a great start for the bones of the ship. You've now made me think whether to leave the ship au naturel or paint it. I do like natural timber colour variation but also like the painted version. Cheers. Veel geluk.

Thanks! Batavia was good fun to built and I also learnt a few (late) lessons with it. The oak material was very new for me, and I found that bending and sanding it were relatively easy. It can be a problem with small dia holes due to the very strong grains though. I also found the 3D printed ornamentation VERY good, with unbelievable details on them. The bulkheads were strong, except their top where they easily brook because of the small thickness. For the painting I had to follow the Client's requirement, if it would have been up to me, I rather would have it painted.
