This is my 3rd ship. It is the BEAGLE by occre. I also tried to implement some things from the anatomy of the ship book. With making it with the 7 life boats. And making the futtock lines with chains. I did some experimenting with making my own shackles and even bought a serving rig. That has come in handy time and time again. Also with the decking this time instead of using charcoal sticks or pencils I used thread and I used black fishing line to simulate the nails. This by far I feel is my best ship granted learning things every step of the way from my first ship to now. And I will continue to learn as I go.
This is how I'm able to glue all my frames on the false keel at once and know that they are square
While the glue is drying over night on the false keel I decided to start doing the decking. But I want to try something different this time. I had seen someone talking about using thread. So I went and got some black nylon embroidery thread. Once I had my planks cut to size which I went with 60mm again.
Glue is dried now for the inserts at the bottom of the keel
Finished the bow of the ships decking now for the main deck. For this I decided to add a king plank it is 6mm in width where as the regular planks are 5mm in width.
This is what I used for my nails on the decking and walls and bulwarks on the inside as you'll see.
bow and poop decks are done.
Working on the main deck and also putting a staggering layout for the planks.
Test fitting the decks on the frame making small adjustments as needed.
As you can see I'm also lining the walls with the tread for the caulking and using the nails aswell.
Securing the main deck to the frame.
back what towards the stern of the ship. getting the bulwarks in place and secured.
The inside of the bulwarks are planked and caulked and nailed.
