Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Many thanks Chestcutter.Hi Neil,
I too was looking for a better way and came across this product, used in beading and thread craft.
I have ordered one but not yet put it to use.
thread zap is a hot wire cutter... here is the link...Thread zap works well. I posted last Friday (purchased shortly ago #2316) with a sample cut. Sorry, at my age knowing how to short cut links is still a mystery.
Can't comment at this stage because I'm a long way away from doing any actual rigging. To date its just been cutting leftovers which depending on rope size has been acceptable to me. Anything has to be better than CA fumes and affects thereof. Will not this "zapper" leave a plastic bulb on the rope end? I would imagine it will and thinking that it is not acceptable.
Mine came from Aliexpress NZD14.95 (USD8.41) including postage.thread zap is a hot wire cutter... here is the link...
Have you tried 'odourless' CA? I can recommend BSI (Bob Smith Industries). It overcame my allergy to standard CA.Can't comment at this stage because I'm a long way away from doing any actual rigging. Thanks. I keep mine in the fridge, although the ones in use stay out ready - 1/2 oz med. (only size available here), & 1oz thin. I use a long disposable tip, which tends to seal itself, thus preventing it 'going off',- I just snip the end off each time.Hi Stuart, Yes I do use the BSI Gold label CA. It is very good but with the infrequency of use per model it seems to go off so I only purchase the 1oz, still very expensive for the size. While it is gentler, the product still gives me mild breathing and visual issues. As a last resort BSI Gold label is what I use if I must use CA. Cheers and a very Merry Festive Season to you and yours.
