This is directly from the book from Herman Ketting . As he wrote.
Blue isn't in the list , but I already told you @Steef66 why I bought this color (to mix with the black for one part of the ornaments).
Red and Gold are in the list for 100%. 20210615_123129.jpg20210615_123124.jpg

The model in the museum has build in the same time as the original was build. I think that the modelbuilder of that time almost perfectly paint the ship as the original.
I see absolutly no reason why he shall make it different.

But no one shall ever know. And for us(modelbuilders) it's a gamble. But we can came close to the original with a little research. But not exactly the same as the original.

Yes mentioning this, these are the colours used on the model. Herman describes them in that way. But we also knew that the ships of the VOC didn't use real gold but a ocker yellow paint and a shining resin on top too imitate gold. That was a lot cheaper.

The list of colors from the photos in my earlier post, I translated them to Englisch.

Rood = Red
Ligt blauw = light blue
Zwart = black
Groen = green
Goud = gold
Geblauwd zwart = blueish black
Vleeskleur = skincolor
Donkerbruin = darkbrown

And the others are .... off-white for the waterline.
And white for mixing other colors

The picture of the ropes on the feet of the mast are astonishing accurate to the drawing in the book of Herman Ketting.
Hi Stephan, the modeller was Herman Ketting himself. He built the model after his book or wrote the book after his model. As he was the former curator of the Rijksmuseum, the model should be housed there, but I'm not sure about that.

Thank you oncemore! So Kettings model is housed in the museum, but they provide no pictures. I remember now having read this post by Ab Hoving in your build log, but it seems too much for my brain to store information for a longer time :). Btw: your model of the PW is very beautiful Thumbsup.
