I promised some of our friends over at another thread that I will show the contents of the kit that I purchased from ZHL for US$258. This is the Royal Caroline 1:50 scale, not to be confused with the exquisite (and much more expensive) 1:30 Royal Caroline with all the bells and whistles. The manufacturer is YuanQing from China.

I must say up front, this is not a kit review, but rather a mere showing of the kit's contents. Nevertheless, my initial impression is that it's a good quality kit. It comes with a variety of fairly good quality wood... sapele, beechwood, walnut, basswood, and teak. The decorative pieces are resin (but can be upgraded to pear for a substantial amount). Instructions are a combination of English, Chinese and I think Italian.

Ordering and delivery from Max at ZHL was smooth and efficient. From the day I placed the order to the box delivered to my doorstep was only about a week.

There is an English (as well as a Chinese) parts list. There are about 270 unique part numbers in the kit.

The kit also comes with a CD with PDF files in English containing well illustrated instructions. These are the contents of the CD.

In addition, there are several large sheets (some 12x16 inches, some others as big as 28x36inches) with illustrated instructions.

Now to the contents of the kit.

The fittings come in a shrink wrapped cardboard, clearly numbered which are cross referenced to the parts list, which in turn refer to the specific instructions. There are 7 different sizes/color of rope. Cannons look like they are aluminum alloy. The blocks and deadeyes appear to be of good quality. There are rings, beads, channel plates, chains etc.

The carvings are resin. For sure not as good as the ones in its more expensive cousin, but plenty of detail in them. They will look good after painting. There is an option to upgrade to pear carvings on this model but the price is US$268.

There's a good variety of wood. The first planking strips look like basswood. The second planking are thinner sapele.

They also give you teak strips for the deck planking. There are hundreds of these sheets.

They provide full masts in various lengths and diameters. However, no sails are provided.

A variety of other wood strips for specific uses. I think these are walnut and beech.

The laser cut pieces look clean and sturdy.

That's it. I am really eager to get started on this build. Will do a build log when I do.

But first I have to finish my beloved Black Pearl. I have a couple of weeks worth of finishing tasks left on that one.

Thanks for visiting.

Hello Warrlight, I thank you very much for your box opening of your 1:50 Royal Caroline. This is a very nice kit for the money and that is for sure. This kit will give you hours and hours of shear enjoyment . A friend of mine is building the 1:30 Royal Caroline that is very much a very high quality kit with great instructions but a bit larger than your ship. The 3D printed decorations are nice but can not compare with the pear wood ones but at a much higher cost that really catch my eye. But like you say after painting they will look very nice also. Thanks for your demonstration and the box opening of your ZHL Royal Caroline .
Regards Lawrence

Большое спасибо за распаковку, мне не повезло меньше, я купил данный кит там только на китайском диске и несколько больших листов но нет процесса сборки, китайский продавец никак помочь не хочет.
