I'm at the point in my build where I'll need to cut and use little brass fittings such as hinges for the rudder. I went online to see if there are any ideas or methods I might best use for using the brass parts. I came across what I think is a great idea from a posting (from the UK). So, I de ided to copy hisidea and make one of my own. It consists of an acrylic base plate (4"x4") and a smaller acrylic 'hold down'. I made it from 1/4" thick acrylic sheet. I also painted the backside of the base and added 4 rubber, non-slip feet. I used wood dowels to assist.

What this little jig does is allows me to cut small brass parts from the etching sheet without bending parts or getting caught on adjacent sharp little edges. I'm including a few pictures for your review. Use a curved blade to allow a 'rocking' cut.
