I wanted to build from scratch a model of my best man’s 1992 45’ Bayliner. I first built one in a bottle, then one 15” long.IMG_2384.jpegIMG_2385.jpeg

I first did the ship in a bottle. I had a side view of it in the water and a top view for the shape of the hull. First the hull was made in sections to fill in the bottle. I try to make each piece as large as possible to fit into the bottle. I made the sea out of window putty and used oil paint to color it. I add wood pieces to the front in the bottle so that it looked like it was under way as in the picture. IMG_2185.jpegIMG_2203.jpeg

IMG_2292.jpegIMG_2260.jpegIMG_2292.jpegI had to make a trip to the boat to take pictures of areas I wasn’t sure of. I also went on line to see pictures of the same boat that was for sale.

Some pictures of the progress. As you can see the bottom hull had to be made in 3 pieces.I used paper parts to hide the splits in the boat.IMG_2289.jpegIMG_2259.jpegIMG_2282.jpegIMG_2280.jpegWhen installing the parts I have to put the pieces that are furthest away from the neck of the bottle.

Here is the 15” Version. Scratch built. I was able to use the keel and some bulkheads from another kit tha I bought for this. The railings are paper clips, along with the chairs. The canopy is paper with paper clip supports. The hull is covered with mahogany veneer. The rest is mostly balsa wood and mahogany wood trim. See next comment for pictures
