Hello everyone
I'm back on the table with a new small relaxation short project before my next big project build.
The Shallop of cap. John smith
So without further ado.
The start of the build with the first cradled and laying the keel.

The kit: no unboxing-forgot to take pictures

Later with the next update : the ribs

It's coming along.
And the ribs are Super fragile.

And my test on painting the blocks to look more woody.
The blocks were changed feom wooden ones to 3d printed ones :

And last question ,
Dose anyone know how those blocks called?

I consider to change the blocks but couldn't find any considerable replacement for that block.

Cheers

Enjoy the build - it's a very nice kit, but with some (very few actually) tricky corners...

Cheers,
Frank

Good morning all,
The lay of the ribs has been finished, yay,.
This kit is super gentle and need extra carful when working on it and lots of adjustments on the cradle.

And the final result after extraction from the cradle.

Enjoy and have a great weekend of relaxation

Next update : the planking

It's updated day,hooray!
After a week or so of planking and sanding i completed the main part of the boat's hull construction.
IMG_3763.jpegIMG_3789.jpegIMG_3831.jpegIMG_3839.jpegIMG_3894.jpegIMG_3923.jpegIMG_3924.jpeg

For the hull finish I decided to divert from Pavel Nikitin method of painting
I did used first his patina , but after Sanding the hull i used teak oil as finish and not diluted patina.

I love the result, i think it's looking better that way.

Next update: the benches

Cheers and great weekend all

So with the finished hull of the boat I continued with the boat decks, benches, and the rudder.

For the fore deck I did it from new oarts that i made to match the curvatures of the hull, the steam moved about 3mm forward while planking.

The original part in Comparison to my part

IMG_3996.jpeg

From here I continued with the branches and the railings

IMG_4025.jpegIMG_4042.jpegIMG_4068.jpeg

The installation of the rudder didn't turned out to the best as ir should be ,Partially my fult and partially the lack of proper parts in the kit to make hinges correctly.

From the kit part folding marks on the PE parts of the hinges will be much helpful and more important the addition of the correct tube for the pins to slide in, Any way this is the result, I think It will be less noticeable when the whole boat is completed.

IMG_4043.jpegIMG_4045.jpegIMG_4050.jpegIMG_4049.jpegIMG_4051.jpegIMG_4070.jpeg

Eventually it's a model for my self so I less judgmental about that.

Next update: the Leeboards system

Cheers
Guy
