Huaguang Reef No. 1 History Profile:
“Huaguang Reef No. 1” was a shipwreck discovered by Chinese fishermen during the operation of the Huaguang Reef in the Xisha Islands in 1996. From 1998 to 1999, the site of the Museum of Underwater Archaeology of the Chinese History Museum carried out a trial excavation. The wreck of the shipwreck was 18.4 meters long, with a residual width of 9 meters, a depth of 3-4 meters, 10 residual compartments, and six hulls. The outer hull of heavy hull is a major discovery of ancient Chinese shipbuilding technology, and it was named "Huaguang Reef I" wreck.

After the research on the Huaguang Reef "real ship debris and cargo", the original ship was a long-distance trade cargo ship in the Southern Song Dynasty. Its hull adopts watertight compartment technology, fish scale lap and multiple hull outer panels, which confirms Marco Polo. The Travel Notes on the Quanzhou Sixth Heavy Plate and other ship techniques are typical of the construction of the Fuyuan Ocean during the Song and Yuan Dynasties.

The design of the recovery ship was undertaken by the China Ship History Research Association of Wuhan University of Technology. It was based on the unearthed ancient ships of the Song Dynasty in the Houzhou Port of the Quanzhou, the Xin’an ancient ship in the Yuan Dynasty, and the ancient boat of the Pengcai, with appropriate reference to the current wood. The ship specification is designed according to the ancient Chinese ocean cruise ship and the documentary and unearthed data; from the ancient thorny port (now Quanzhou, Fujian) shipbuilding family, the Huang family, the descendant Huang Wubi Shibo (father) Huang Dongwei Shibo (child) belt The team will be on the verge of losing the scales of the fish scales and the multi-ship construction skills. In accordance with the tradition of inheriting the legacy of the ship and the modern construction specifications, 18 craftsmen will be built to complete the construction.

The “Huaguang Reef I” recovery ship was restored in a ratio of 1:0.9. The captain is 22.14 meters long and 8.1 meters wide. The depth is about 3.51 meters. There are 13 compartments. There is a canopy behind the deckhouse of the tail building. The hull is mainly cargo space. The main raft is about 16 meters high and is 10.6 meters high. The whole ship is made of slightly wooden, with a load of about 120 tons. The ship's side panels and shells are triple-shaped, with tung oil and lime sticking to prevent water leakage. Set the keel and keel wing of the whole ship. It is made of fish scale lap joint, triple hull outer panel and watertight transverse bulkhead system. The whole ship is built with a full warehouse wall structure frame and has high anti-sinking performance. The bottom of the ship is V-shaped and can sail quickly with the sails.IMG_20190531_174556.jpgIMG_20190601_100529.jpgIMG_20190601_100729.jpgIMG_20190601_100800.jpgIMG_20190601_100834.jpgIMG_20190601_101437.jpgIMG_20190601_101901.jpgIMG_20190601_101922.jpgIMG_20190601_104906.jpgIMG_20190601_110218.jpgIMG_20190601_110227.jpgIMG_20190601_110247.jpgIMG_20190601_110447.jpgIMG_20190601_110500.jpgIMG_20190601_110614.jpgIMG_20190601_113000.jpg

This is a very interesting kit, and I am pretty sure, will also bring much more chinese people closer to the ship modeling hobby.
I have only one suggestion or hint, which could be easily adjusted by the manufacturer of the kit:
On some deck elements like the roof of the deck house the grain of the timber is very dominant. Here maybe some extra planking would be positive to imitate planks

BTW: I did not find an info who is the producer / manufacturer of this kit?

Is there an ebay or aliexpress link to buy this kit?

Sam Chan,
the very long civilization and Chinese history offers you the opportunity to design great kits around the merchant marine or navy war ... Like this model presented here.
Instead of copies of Western plans and models of ships, it would be really exceptional to offer the whole world and the modelers we are, kits of Chinese boats throughout your history and your heritage. I am convinced that introducing us to quality kits about your culture would be a much more lucrative and rewarding economic market for us all!
