clean castings

Getting ready to paint castings for a Soleil Royale by ZHL. What is a good, quick way to clean these castings. They seem to have alot of residue. I was thinking acetone with gloves and a tooth brush. Thank you.

I put my metal parts in one of those small hobby gemstone tumblers. It works a treat.
