Has anyone used these?
On the last cruise we went on I saw these stirring sticks for your coffee. Look them up on the internet and found they were made of birch. Grabbed a bunch and will see if I can use them on the future build of the Mayflower II I plan on building after the HMS Victory build. I used similar sticks but much thinner for the decking on the Victory build. They look pretty good quality. To buy, they are less then $8 per thousand.

I use them all the time- there are shorter and thinner versions available too. My box says www.perfectstix.com , and they look like a great source for inexpensive stripwood in general. I found mine at a local restaurant supply store.

As we say...wood is wood! There are many sources of usable wood if we look around and thus is a good example. The only caution is that these type wood strips are not manufactured with precision in mind so they may vary in dimensions ever so slightly...or not. Good idea either way!

I plan on getting some myself...
.... and when you soak them, even though they are only 5 inches, they twist and turn without breaking and keep the curve when dry. Based on the number of responses I have gotten from the original post, a number of people have used them. Would think they would come in handy for scratch builders that are on a budget.

If you need something just as handy but a bit larger buy a package of tongue depressors at a craft store (like Michaels). They are wide enough to saw to custom widths.

Starbucks still puts out wood ones. I’ll have to grab some when they re-open.
You can also buy 1000 of them on Amazon for less than $10 with free shipping.
It took me 2 weeks at sea on a cruise ship to gather those that I have.

Yo! To my mind, they are useless. Of course, you can use it for many purposes, but it's easily substituted for everything. Purchased 2 similar packs a year ago, still unpacked.
