Greetings to everyone.

In this topic, I want to share information on:

- the production of ropes and cables,
- painting rigging,
- mistakes and life hacks in rigging production.

I will cover all of this in detail in the main thread about building the HMS Victory, but to make it easier and quicker to find only the information about rigging, I will post links to the messages where I will discuss this here.
You can ask any questions both here and in the main construction thread.

In the first message, (link at the bottom of the post)
I discuss the theory of what ropes and cords are, their differences, and their purposes, and I share the production of a rope-making machine of my own design. Perhaps it will serve as a basis for someone in creating their own.

As I fill in the information, I will add links to specific messages here for easy reference. The next topic I plan to cover is mistakes and life hacks in rope production.

Part 2.

In this post, I want to touch on the topic of mistakes and life hacks when making ropes and cables.

In the article linked, I discuss in detail:
1. Lint—why it's bad and how to get rid of it.
2. Twisting strength—how to twist ropes correctly.
3. Twisting direction—why ropes and cables twist in different directions.
4. How to choose the color of the rigging and why I dye the threads.

Part 3.

In this section, I cover:
- the types of threads I use;
- how I calculate the thickness of the rigging;
- I provide a table and thickness diagrams for the HMS Victory;
- I show samples of finished threads with descriptions of how many strands they consist of.

You can read all about this in detail in the main construction thread - >>>thread samples and their calculations<<<.

Hi serikoff, I ask: all this amount of information ,study and workmanship , on what source does all this emerge? Thank you ,Frank

Hi serikoff, Thanks for replying, I would be glad to visit Your personal Forum , if it is possible.Frank
Unfortunately, after the Russian attack, the cooperation between the countries ended, and all the photos on the forum disappeared, since the site and photo hosting were from different countries. And now all the information on the forum is only in words without pictures(((( And this forum is not in English, so I don't think it will be useful to you in this form((

I will try to add the most interesting things to this forum in my thread and create thematic threads as much as possible.

* I updated the information regarding the calculation of rigging diameters based on the diameter of the main mast. I added a table in the previous post, part number 3.

Part 4.
Painting Rigging Threads.

In this section, (linked to my main building thread), I will explain how and with what I dye polyester threads for rigging.

I will discuss which threads I dye, the colors I use, the types of paint, and the ingredient ratios needed for dyeing two different color scheme options.

>>> The dyeing will be done with oil paints.<<<

Hello Serikoff,
I hope all is well with you.
Are there any future additions to this thread being planned?
It is a great topic and I've learned much from it.
Thanks!
