Da Vinci Aerial Screw

OK, not a ship, not a plane, not a wagon, not an artillery piece. I picked up the kit (designed in Canada; manufactured in Taiwan by SabMatt) when I was in the US back in October and visited a Hobby Lobby store just because I'd never been in one. The box and instructions say it can be assembled in 1-1/2 hours; took me a little over 3. The kit is hardwood and hardwood plywood; everything cut to size (even the dowels). It just needed a little bit of sanding as I put it together. The hand crank on the finished model turns a vertical shaft that turns the upper part (the aerial screw) in a counter clockwise direction. The company has a couple of other wooden models based on Da Vinci sketches (trebuchet, catapult, tank and ornithopter). May pick up some of them for my grandsons. Made a nice afternoon project.

That looks like a fun project! Do you plan to stain it or leave it a natural finish?
