Thanks. I can get decal paper from Micro-Mark of Sprue Brothers. Its the sizing that I would need to get correct.Good morning,
What should the decals for the C47 look like? Do you have a sample? If you can't find any in 1:48 scale, you can make them yourself. You will need a good printer and water-soluble decal film. But first we can look for the decals on the net. I would be happy to help you.

Thanks. I agree, these are a bit pricey! This may be helpful. Pricy though. You may want to consider "Generic" aircraft numbers and insignia's in the 1/48th scale that you may be able to adopt to your needs.

Thanks!! Help away! I'm looking for just the star-and-bars logo. I can mask in the stripes but decals are not something that would be to mask.Good morning,

Thanks. I did quite a bit of research before "decorating" my Dakota. This was one of the sites I looked through. I even found him in a registry of WWII vets but it gave no description of the particular C-47 he flew. I have found a web site that lists plane numbers for a variety of aircraft and how they ended up, museums, scrap, etc. You may be correct but then...I'll never know and wont be in a position to correct any error when I get to ask him. I did the best I could with what I had to work with. He did not enter the AAC until after D-Day so who is to say that C-47s with striping didn't make their way to Southeast Asia? Regardless, I think my dad would have been pleased with my effort. The friend of mine who gave me the kit seemed to like it. I know the Germans flew C-47s that may have been captured as I found photos of one that was showing the Luftwaffe logo.Hi Uncchains, very interesting article. Am I right in thinking that your father only flew in the Far East? If so I don't think that his plane would be carrying 'invasion stripes' as shown in the pic. and models. To my knowledge these b/w stripes where applied after D Day in Europe to identify friendly forces and stop impersonation by the enemy, the same way as allied armour, regardless of the country of origin of the troops and vehicles all carried white stars.
Have a look at this site; https://www.classicwarbirds.co.uk/articles/the-history-of-invasion-stripes.php
All the best JJ..
Thanks. I did look at this site. There were some very interesting sheets (4). Prices were pretty high and three of the 4 sheets were out of stock. There was a lot on the 4th that I would not use and just be wasted. Also, Foxbot is in the UK and I chose not to order from it because of possible tariff issues and timing. I got suitable decals from another vendor. I'll keep the Foxbot site in my files for future reference. I have an A-10 I just started on and will build it as having been a Myrtle Beach, SC, bird or, if I can find the build number, as a "tribute" to an A-10 pilot who crashed his plane just north of Charleston, SC. in 1982 or '83. After that, an EA6-B Prowler to add to my group of A-6s. Those are after the VICTORY cross-section and the VASA I am building.Foxbot produces decals for C-47:
