Deck/sheathing joint

Hello, building the HMS Grimsby but hoping this is a generic question- I'm about to shape the ribs for installing the sheathing and realize I may need some filler balsa added to some of the ribs (about 1/16" in some places). I just want to be certain that I want to file down the ribs, not trim the deck, right?! On the plans, it looks like I will need to cover the joint with sheathing strip. Hope the attached picture helps, this is my first upload... Thanks in advance.

Sand (shape) the bulkheads to allow the planks to follow the curve of the hull and make good contact/glue area. Is this model single-planked or double? Planks will need tapering too.
