OOPS!!!!
My fat fingers slipped off the key board. My bad.
Anyway, I was doing some fishing trips out of Port Clinton, Ohio on the western shore of Lake Erie. One of the planned trip was aborted to due windy conditions. What to do? What to do?
So I decided to take a runner (a drive) to the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle outside Detroit Michigan to check out the place.
I took some pictures of some models that were on display. Not the best pictures from my cheapo phone.
Port Clinton used to be famous as the home of Island Airways that flew back and forth to Put-In-Bay on South Bass Island. In their heyday the flew 1920’s era Ford Trimotors. Passengers included kids going back and forth to schools on the mainland.
My wife and I flew there from Port Clinton once in the 1970’s. I sat in the co-pilot’s seat to hold the pilot’s can of iced tea while he flew. Lots of oil from the radial engine in the nose clouding the windshield.
I cannot tell you how many Lake Erie walleye I have caught. So much fun on those charters! I even accidentally caught a state recorded smallmouth on one outing. What he was doing on the walleye flats no one could guess.
Up here in Northeastern Minnesota, they are the most popular game fish. The annual opening of Walleye Season is a big deal. My father who spent his life in Northeastern Ohio always called them Pickeral.
