Recently I purchased a modelkit by CANAV - Genova representing an Dutch Merchant ship, type "Galjoot" (or Galliot) in schale 1:60. Designed by Robert Greco.

The hull is partly build by a previous owner and looks nice.
At a decent price it seemed to me a nice successor for my little chinese "Halcon"- build...

Certainly not a beginners-model, but I will take the challenge!

Looking around in various forums and Google I found little info on this particular kit or even the shipstype itself.
The kit is dated around 1983...
Luckily there are 8 big drawings, A1-A2 size, and a written manual in 3 langages, including Dutch!

Once I started it I defenitly will be back to you all with questions. Please be patient! ;-)

And if you have more info about this kit or ship please share it!

I know its late but have you more informations i found nothing else
Same still mgoes for me: no additional info...
In the meantime I've switched my attention to restoring/finishing another 'oldie': Billing Boats' Sperwer.

I was a present from my neighbor and costs nothing but time...I think I can use it as a Training to Test my skills.
But i also think I never can build it as it was the original....

Also mine was cheap, just a few Euros at Marktplaats.
It is not the most beautiful ship but indeed a good practice subject.
Goodluck with the training and inform me/us in this forum about your progress.

I have no additional information about Galjoot. I have built that model some 30 years ago… I still have it, however I’d like to decompose the whole thing and make some improvements (you see, I had no experience at that time and the building is full of mistakes).
Could you please send me some photos of the drawings/plans? No need for the instruction book. Thank you in advance!

The only information I found was thr following post in Facebook:

Galjoot 1740 ship has interesting story.
Had this kit a while build this ship few years back it's a very rare kit a rare ship not many knows about this real ship and the timber model.kit almost impossible to find anywhere as very few made .

North Sea (17th–19th centuries)
A galjoot was a type of Dutch or German merchant ship of 20 to 400 tons (bm), similar to a ketch, with a rounded fore and aft like a fluyt. Galjoots had nearly flat bottoms to sail in shallow waters. These ships were especially favored for coastal navigation in the North and Baltic seas. To avoid excessive leeway, or leeward drift due to their flat bottoms, smaller vessels were usually fitted with leeboards. After 1830, a modernised type of galiot was developed that featured a sharper bow similar to a schooner. These vessels rarely had leeboards.

Hi!
Sorry for misunderstanding. My request was to Ponytail, not you. He wrote he has 8 big drawings A2/A1 size, and I aske if he could send pictures of these to me.

This is what I built 30 years ago... it was one of my first attempts to model ship building. A lot of mistakes, obviously

If I could get the drawings (the 8 A1/A2 sheets), I plan to strip her down as far as I can, and start building her again...

@ Der Harry: I hope the above pictures help to get a basic idea on how Galjoot could look like in the end
@ Ponytail: could you be able to send me some hi-res pictures of the drawings, please? (I can't find them anywhere else). Thanks!

Hi,

personal I love these old type of Italian kits. They give a lot of questions to solve and you need skills. It is not al prefab. You need to build. So I wish you a lot of fun and I will follow.
