Have a how-do-you-do-it kind of question on rigging... when you have running rigging ending on a belaying pin in a perfect coil... how do get the line length right to do what it needs to do and then ends at the pin with the right amount left to put on some kind of jig for the coil? Are there great tricks or best practices? I'm sure the steps are on the forum somewhere, can you point me there? Would love to learn a few ways.

Yas,
What I am doing is using a longer line for that ceratin rigging piece, connect it to the belaying pin and cut the rest off. The 'surplus' coil is better made of a different piece of line. This way you can pre-manufacture the coils and it is much easier to do it outside the model than in-situ. What the connection of the line to the belaying pin is concerned, use the same technic as it is done on real ships.
Othrwise be cautious with using the belaying pins on older ships. They were very rarely used before the second part of the 17th century. Kit manufacturers love providing belaying pins to their kits, for ships much earlier than this.

That's a great way to do it Janos. Appreciate the tip. I thought everyone was using one line all the way through. Was really struggling with how I'd pull that off in some pretty small and complicated spaces. I have a hard enough time with the easier stuff (ha). I'll look up some ways of making orderly and believable coils. Thanks again!
