Endurance (1912) - Occre, Scale 1:70 - My First Shipbuilding Adventure

Cheers Namabiiru ! :D Here's that Tardis door ;)
The first is in its original location.
We had a very large shed on our previous property which had a small room at the end which I chose to do some artwork in, and decided to put a sliding door to the entrance, and my missus suggested the Tardis :p
When we moved to a smaller property the door came with us, and so we turned it into a feature under the patio near the garage entrance Thumbsup:)

You have a very special Missus to suggest such a thing! :D

Indeed! I could just imagine the conversation with my Admiral:

Honey, we should build a Tardis door from Dr. Who.
Dr. Who?
Yes.
Who's the doctor?
Yes.
What's the name of the doctor?
Who.
Who's the doctor?
That's what I said.
What?
No, Who.
(blank stare)
And what the h*ll is a tardis?

OK, got both of those sleds done and pretty pleased if I say so myself :p
Very simple, 1.5mm fencing wire and off-cuts of timber sliced to size and glued in to place. :)
Anyone interested in having a crack, the dimensions I tried to keep to scale (1:70) are 8mm ~10mm (3/8") wide and about 50mm (2") long

Also I've been looking on line for ages to try and source some 3D printed or plastic life savers but could never find anything close to suit the 1:70 scale needed.
In the end I found some rubber "O" rings of the right size, about 12mm (1/2") diameter, painted them white and added stripes with a paint pen.
A few bits of timber to represent a housing, eh Voila !
Happy Daze Thumbsup;)

I think that's as far as I'm prepared to go with that little whim.
There's a fine line between enough and too much, not sure where I am on that border but I don't want to cross it too far
I've made a few bits out of clay to represent tarps, bags and rolls of "something", I've "tied down" a few on the sledges.
I've put those lifebuoys in place too, there will be 2 more on the rear safety rail later on.

Time to accept that Nemesis of rigging, I think subconsciously I've been avoiding it, truth to tell it's scaring the crap out of me ROTF
I'm still preparing the masts, so I guess that will allow me a little practice with ropes ;)
Next pics will be masts in place, and then I'll go from there.
Wish me luck legends of SOS ! :pThumbs-Up

Beautiful ship and great results
Thankyou Richard, very appreciated.
There's a ton of support from this amazing group that have always been there to help me through all the obstacles I've encountered and
managed to keep me putting one foot in front of the other and continue to enjoy my first build.
I agree with @RussF , my biggest lesson learned has been that patience is the golden key ;)

The Endurance is part of an amazing story. I really look forward to seeing this complete. I'd also love to see a version of it frozen in ice.
