ENDURANCE by François de Saint Nazaire - OcCre - 1/70

Hello Keith,

In fact, I have done many minor modifications thanks to the pictures of Franck Hurley.

  • The flag ( change to blue enseign)
  • Funnel of the galley ( 1 instead of 2, postion moved forward)
  • cat head (tapered)
  • windlass
  • propeller ( buy a brass one with 2 blades from Raboesch)
  • rudder hinges added
  • 1 shroud added to go to the crow's nest
  • navigation lights added
  • furled sail
  • yard modified for the rolling sail
  • rail painted in white instead of walnut varnish
  • blackening of chain and pieces in brass
  • Command of the steering gear visible
  • guard rail with wire 0,5mm (brass) painted in white for the aft guard rail painted in brown it is a diamete 1,0mm
  • For the ratelines I used brass wire 0,5mm
  • life buoy (x3) added

Lovely model of what was an epic in eventual survival. Sir Earnest Shackelton took the ship down to Antarctica, lost the ship (crushed by sea ice), but NONE of his crew. Amazing! Read the book, "Endurance". A riveting read.
 
Wasn't the Endurance recently found in the antarctic? The real pictures are super. Love all the dogs which I presume are sled teams for exploring.
