I am starting on Model Shipways' Fair American. I have a practicum but according to the plans I am able to pre-shape the bulkheads before I attach them to the center keel. According to the practicum none of this is mentioned. The only difference that the instructions would indicate as apposed to the practicum is when to attach the stem, keel, and sternpost. Trying to make up my mind on which way to do it and I'm looking for some input. Any thoughts?

I'm assuming you are referring to the bevel of the edges of the bulkheads. To me, it is easier and more accurate to do it after they are attached to the false keel. That way you can bow a strip of wood along it to verify the bevel is the right shape.

Other people may have a differing opinion. :) There are many ways to do things and they all accomplish the same thing. None of them are wrong if they end up with a successful completion.

Thank you for your input. I have figured out what I am going to do. I will mark the bevel lines on the bulkheads but will go ahead and then install them and fair them up after.
